Story&Idea

I was thinking about elderly people as took as an example a grandmother which has blood pressure monitor without any connectivity options and has to do measurements every day, write them down to a paper and then go to a doctor and show her measurements. And I saw how difficult it was for her so as I was already working with such situations but with modern connected device I decided to create a PoC which aims to help people in such situations and understand wether this could be interested for people and companies across the globe. And here we are.

So back to the idea:

The initial idea was to provide end-users (mostly I was thinking about patient from rural areas and people with some disabilities to visit doctors often who has to be constantly or periodically monitored) with an ability to do it at home with as easy as possible functionality (so ideally one button app).

Here is the simple three-step flow which now implemented in the PoC:

  1. User opens a phone or a web app

  2. User takes photo of measurements

  3. Algorithm recognises values and sends data to EMR/EHR system then medical personnel can see this data and make a decision

Questions around the idea or Remote patient monitoring

There are plenty of questions of cause around that. Here are some of them:

  1. Questions around patient:

    1. Are patients ready for that?

    2. Are there any laws against this (I heard in some countries there are some laws about that)

  2. Questions around caregivers:

    1. What to do with data? It should be then post-calculated so that medial personnel can see high-level report and only review all detailed info if they need to.

    2. Should we send any signal to doctors in case we detect urgency in values?

  3. Questions around data:

    1. Data validation (how we can be sure values are taken by the patient and they are valid)

    2. Where to put this data in the system interface?

Supported devices

  1. Blood pressure monitors

  2. Oxygen level monitors

System information

System can be used via Web browser or Mobile device browser (no app is needed)

System can be installed locally on a hospital’s facilities but also can be deployed to any cloud as it is cloud agnostic.

Integration

System integrated with OpenHospital using API.

The following entities are used for integration:

  1. Patients (Used to search of patient in the system and check if it exists)

  2. Examinations (Used to put values from monitors/devices to OpenHospital DB)
